Song for an Angel-Bert Appermont-Euphonium and Piano |

The composer writes: I have written this melodic work for my daughter Paulien. It sounds joyful, expressive and light – as a reflection of her personality. The composition begins lyrical and dreamy. A soft and sensitive opening fragment leads to a grand, uplifting passage, after which the music goes through a change of atmosphere in the B movement: here are the melody and accompaniment sound light, happy and dance like. A development towards a radiant climax follows, in which the opening theme reappears and various elements from the work return to eventually conclude in the dreamy atmosphere of the beginning.
This work is sure to appeal to many intermediate level players looking for a beautiful work to perform with piano accompaniment or just for study. Not too difficult but needs careful rehearsal to find the phrasing and to really make this piece sing!
