Described as 'bold, imaginative' (the Times) and 'a talent to watch' (New York Times), Gavin Higgins is one of the most exciting and gifted compositional talents of his generation. In 2010 Higgins became the inaugural composer in residence for the Rambert Dance Company for whom he wrote a number of daring ballet scores including the grand-breaking Dark Arteries which was shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society and British composer awards. In 2019 his first Opera, The Monstrous Child, commissioned by the Royal Opera House, opened to critical claim, being described as 'a triumph' by The Guardian. Higgins has worked with orchestras and ensemble is such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC COncert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Scottish National Orchestra to name but a few. His collaboration with soloists has resulted in important additions to the Concerto repertoire. His work has been commissioned by some of the U.K.'s leading festivals, including four compositions for the BBC Proms, his baldest and most substantial piece to date, the ingenious work Concerto Grosso for Brass Band and Orchestra, 2022 for which he won a Royal Philharmonic Society award and Southbank Sky Arts award. The first movement of this piece was commissioned by the Royal Academy of music as part of the 200 pieces project. The third movement was commissioned by the BBC as part of BBC Radio 3 Postcards from Composers project and premiered online by Tim Thorpe.

This version for Euphonium was made by the Composer.
