The well known Australian baritone virtuoso Kristy Rowe commissioned Mayfly Blues from the young Belgian composer Stan Nieuwenhuis and it was premiered with piano accompaniment at the 2012 ITEC in Linz.

Mayfly Blues tells the story of a mayfly, a special creature with a short and chaotic life. It's in a jazz idiom and is a very popular work indeed, especially with advanced young players and those maybe not so young too (i.e.Steve!) ! It works great for baritone or euphonium.
