Gestures are a collection of virtuosic solo works that exploit special effects, expansive range, and musical contour. Gestures II, for euphonium, uses extremes of range, percussive effects, and various manners of sound production. These devices are used as motivic cells that structure the overall form of the composition.

Notation: The x note heads represent key clicks. The indication for inhale and exhale indicates blowing air through the euphonium. This work does have an extreme range and that is its musical intention. That said, performing the work without the 8va is permissible.
