Steven had been looking for something like this for many years, and unhappy with the metal water catches the clip to the bottom of the valve group. The problem is traditionally have been extraneous vibration on certain frequencies, slight change of performance as well as the air compression sound that often accompanies the use of the metal gutters.
Steve has been testing this latest model for three months and it is really the best yet.
This updated SB Tray is extraordinary light (10g) and nonmetallic, and it has small hooks on the end of the two protruding prongs that clip inside the bottom caps of valves one and three, giving a very secure and reliable grip. This model has the extendable hooks to allow for the different dimensions of the different brands of euphoniums.

A premium valve oil developed by cornet player Roger Webster for use with both piston and rotary valves. Very stable at all temperatures and the perfect viscosity to provide a fast, light action on all valved brass instruments. Made from 100% mineral oil.
Valve oil is essential for keeping all valved brass instruments in good playing condition. If you play regularly, we recommend every week removing each valve in turn, wiping it clean with a lint-free cloth, and applying a small amount (two or three drops) of valve oil before carefully refitting.

After more than 18 months of testing Steven Mead is very happy to recommend and promote this new valve tray/gutter/water catcher for euphoniums and now here for the first time, for Besson Baritones.
He has been looking for something like this for many years, and unhappy with the metal water catches the clip to the bottom of the valve group. The problem is traditionally have been extraneous vibration on certain frequencies, slight change of performance as well as the air compression sound that often accompanies the use of the metal gutters.
This new SB Tray is extraordinary light (10g) and nonmetallic, and it has small hooks on the end of the two protruding prongs that clip inside the bottom caps of valves one and three, giving a very secure and reliable grip.
It's very easy to remove and put back on for emptying the water, and there's also a very small groove at one end which allows the instrument to be tipped to one side to allow water to escape, if preferred.

This new SB Tray is extraordinary light (10g) and nonmetallic, and it has small hooks on the end of the two protruding prongs that clip inside the bottom caps of valves one and three, giving a very secure and reliable grip.
It's very easy to remove and put back on for emptying the water, and there's also a very small groove at one end which allows the instrument to be tipped to one side to allow water to escape, if preferred.

Here is the latest addition to the series, the spring adjustable water catcher for euphoniums that is designed to fit all euphoniums, but that have the round bottom caps as you can see in the second photo.
He has been looking for something like this for many years, and unhappy with the metal water catches the clip to the bottom of the valve group. The problem is traditionally have been extraneous vibration on certain frequencies, slight change of performance as well as the air compression sound that often accompanies the use of the metal gutters.

Steve Mead says, "I've been using the Ultrabreathe for over 10 years now and have noticed a large improvement in the quantity and quality of air I'm able to use. I was a little scepticle of breathing devices in the past and did buy a few which now collect dust on a shelf somewhere, but the ultrabreathe is quite superb. I think it was developed initially for the medical professional to help people with air 'disorders', asthma etc and has been used by young and old alike and in more recent times by athletes in training and in the last couple of years , by brass and wind musicians. To date I have never met anyone who used it and did not feel an almost immediate benefit from it."
Steve on his routine: "I use it early morning for about 3 minutes, then a minute or so before I play, and sometimes in the interval in the middle of a concert. It keeps my air supply in the highest condition...it actually reduces stress levels and makes you feel better. Sometimes while driving too, although having the ultrabreathe in the mouth can cause a few glances when you have to stop the car...oh well!! It is a resistance inhaler with varying levels of resistance so you can start gently and build up. I try to inhale my full lung capacity in about 3 seconds then exhale , depending the exhalation setting in about 2 seconds. If the exhalation setting is set at maximum resistance you can try to exhale for up to 6 or 8 seconds. Repeat the process about 20 times and thats it, you're done, ready to play...until you feel you need it again. Use it every day and you'll notice a positive improvement with your playing within a week. Don't just take my word for it...try it."

After reaching the most intensive U-Position, return to your initial position.
A daily training is fundamental for a positive development of your embouchure.
Training statically:
Hold the U-position for 60 sec., relax 10 sec., repeat 3 times
Training dynamically:
Exercise the U-position 30 times, relax 10 sec., repeat 5 times

The lips are slightly pointed. Hold this position for several seconds, then relax the
lips and return to your initial position.
Repeat this short exercise and feel how the muscles work.
Now place the winged ends of the u-trainer in the mouth corners and repeat the
initial exercise forming U and slowly pressing the winged ends together.
After reaching the most intensive U-Position, return to your initial position.
A daily training is fundamental for a positive development of your embouchure.
Training statically:
Hold the U-position for 60 sec., relax 10 sec., repeat 3 times
Training dynamically:
Exercise the U-position 30 times, relax 10 sec., repeat 5 times
